In 2020, after 29 years, Julie retired from teaching Animal Care and Veterinary Nursing. She is a Registered Veterinary Nurse and has an MSc in Animal Welfare Science, Ethics and Law. Many years ago, she volunteered for two years at an animal sanctuary just outside Birmingham. She then worked for 11.5 years as a veterinary nurse, in small animal practice and rescue.
She has always been a rescue dog guardian, and by her side now are Ralphie, a lurcher who was adopted from Dumfries and Galloway Canine Rescue Centre in 2011, and Nellie, a greyhound she and her family adopted from Dumfries and Cumbria Greyhound Rescue in 2020.
She is delighted to be able to help DGCRC by being a director for the charity.
