We need helpers for events, our shops in Annan, Dalbeattie, Newton Stewart, Dumfries, Thornhill and at the kennels near Glencaple.

We also, occasionally, need foster carers for dogs that do not settle well in the kennels.

Help at the kennels may include reception work, administration, gardening and DIY as well as dog walking, grooming and socialising. To find out more contact the centre.

We have no administrative offices and we keep our overheads to a minimum. We welcome donations large and small. Small change collections will be counted and banked. Cash donations can be brought into our shops or the kennels at Dovecotewells, Glencaple.

Donations as cheques should be sent to the Treasurer at the rescue centre or hand delivered to the shops or centre. We do not usually acknowledge donations under £25 unless we are especially asked to do so.

We can claim gift aid on your donation if you are a tax payer and provide your name and full address with your donation.

We would appreciate donations of non-perishable goods for tombolas and raffles. There are many of these during the year and it does get quite difficult to find suitable items. If you have any unwanted gifts or can provide a bottle or two this would be a great help. Goods can be taken to either of our shops or to the kennels.

We would like to make a plea to all supporters to help out at one or other of the events. If you want any more information just contact us on 01387 770210 any day between 12 and 4.

We rely on the local community to provide the majority of the funds that keep the rescue centre going. Our biggest source of income is undoubtedly our shops, all of which are manned by volunteers, and they have a page of their own on this website, but other fundraising events are organised regularly right across the region - can shakes, coffee mornings, sponsored walks and so on.

We are always grateful when members of the community take the initiative to dream up and organise their own fundraising event for us. Nowadays, it is made easier to collect the donations or sponsorship via our virginmoneygiving page - create your event, then your supporters can donate online, Virgin claims the Gift Aid on our behalf and transfers the money into our bank account!

In the past, some local communities have raised enough money (£1000) to sponsor a kennel of their own for a year, including Dalbeattie, Galloway, Moffat, Stewartry, Kirkpatrick Fleming and Kirkcudbright have sponsored kennels.
