Laddie can be a bit nervous meeting people for the first time but once introduced he is a very friendly and affectionate boy. He knows some basic commands and has a good re-call. Being a farm dog he has not been house-trained. He can be quite fearful of other dogs and can re-act to any dog coming too close. He has never met children and there is the possibility he may chase sheep if off-lead due to his previous lifestyle.
Laddie was to be trained as a sheep dog, but unfortunately did not make the grade and has been brought to us for re-homing.
An experienced Collie family would be ideal for Laddie. We will only be re-homing him to a one dog family and any children will need to be at least 8 years of age.
Update from Olly and Vic adopted separately in 2012 and 2013
Some rescue dogs find it hard to cope with being left - here's how their owner can help.
You can help support the work of Dumfries & Galloway Canine Rescue Centre in lots of ways; become a registered member of the organisation, volunteer your help at fundraising events, become a foster carer, you can volunteer at one of our shops or at the kennels themselves and you can, of course, donate online.
