This gorgeous big boy is full of energy. It can take him a while to feel confident around you and we feel he is too nervous for children. Rufus hasn't lived with another dog before and can be a bit too full on for most dogs. Rufus travels well in the car and is house trained. He can chew when on his own so will need a little help before he can be left on his own in the house. Rufus is a very strong boy who can pull on the lead and has a tendency to get over-aroused at times on walks when he will suddenly start grabbing the lead and mouthing it or your hand - this needs firm, confident handling to teach him how to cope with frustration. Rufus has lived with cats but he will chase if they run. He is very affectionate and loves to play!
Poor Rufus has not had much luck. He has been brought back a few times now as his adopters have not able to give him the time that he needs.
Rufus needs an owner who can dedicate lots of time to exercising and training this big boy! He is very intelligent but lacks consistent training. He is looking for a patient owner who is able to dedicate time to his needs. As he has not had much stability in his life, his next owner needs to understand that it will take time to help him learn what is expected from him. He needs a home without children.
Cara wanted to let us all know how happy she is.
Many owners accidentally train their dogs NOT to come when called - here's how to make it better.
